Amateur Radio is one of the greatest hobbies available to everyone from children to the children's r grandparents.  There are 3 levels of Amateur Licenses which have different segments of frequency bands within the spectrum, and these are acquired in the following order of testing:

            1) The Technician Class has operating privileges on a segment of 10 Meters (28MHz) and all of the higher bands from 6 Meters (50MHz) up to 23Centi-Meters (1240 MHz).

            2) The General Class has operating privileges on all of the amateur bands from lowest 160M (1.8MHz) band to highest 23 Centimeters (1240MHz) band, but there are off-limit sections of several bands, typically at the low end of the  HF bands.

            3) The Extra Class has operating privileges on all amateur bands.  These are the same bands that are used by the General Class, but they have no limits on any of the amateur bands.  The Extra Class can operate on CW 3500-3600MHz and Phone 3600-4000MHz whereas the General Class is limited to CW 3525-3600MHz and Phone 3800-4000MHz.  And, of course, DX stations tend to operate in the lower portions of each band.

When taking the Technician Class test, you should consider it as just your first step to a great career in ham radio.  Once you pass the Technician Class test, we urge you to immediately start studying for the General Class license.  Since you have the entire Question & Answer (Q&A) Pool as your study guide and since you know how it works, what could be easier?
